Baby Room Design Tips

So you’re expecting a new addition to the family! Gone are the days where dresser draws and cardboard boxes were deemed suitable nap-time abodes for children (trust us we’ve seen it done!) We know it can be a stressful and daunting task, so here are some pointers to help you get inspired!

Find a feature piece first

It’s often easier and more effective to decide a theme for your nursery when you let it start from a piece of furniture or art you love. Find something you think is truly special and unique then take your cues from that.

Make it personal

No one wants to spend the time and effort into their nursery to have it turn out like a generic ikea advertisement.  One of our favourite ways to add a uniquely personal touch is to get any other kids in the family to do some art specifically for the baby. This is also a great way to help them get excited about the new addition to the family.

You have to be able to enjoy it too!

While this room may not be specifically for you, the odds are you are going to be spending quite a lot of time here over the next few months! So it’s important to make sure that you actually enjoy the space you’re creating as well.  Throw in a comfortable rocking chair or sofa so that you’ll be at ease during the long days (and nights) ahead.

Don't be afraid to be bold

Too often people think that nurseries have to be soft, neutral tones. This isn’t the case.  A combination of prominent and discreet colours can give a room warmth and life whilst not being so loud as to remove the atmosphere of relaxation.
